Why Bellydance?
Women are internally strong, and Elisheva builds her instruction on this foundation. Plus, Bellydance is a joy! Tying on a coin belt is so much more fun than gym shorts. While you could count down the minutes or reps at the gym, an hour in bellydance class will have you wishing it wasn’t over!

It’s good for you!  This low-impact form of exercise won’t cause breakdown of the body, but will build it up.  Embrace your Femininity! In this world, we are impressed upon with varying concepts of how to be in society and in our bodies as women. In bellydance class, you are free to explore your true, inner feminity as you move in organic ways to beautiful music.  Gaining a newfound body awareness and control of your body is deeply satisfying.  Bellydance is also a sisterhood and class is warm and inviting. You will form friendships and bonds as you learn bellydance. Take out one hour a week for yourself, put on a beautiful hip scarf, and come dance with me!

Workshops

Interested in bringing Elisheva to your town or festival? Below are some possibilities of Elisheva’s current offerings. You are welcome to suggest a specific topic in addition to the listings below!

Lavish Locutions – That powerful accent, that lilting flourish, that searing taqsim call for a lavish expression in your dance interpretation. We use intermediate level technique to learn movements and build phrases that are dramatic, lavish, and powerful to accentuate those arresting moments in the music.

The Taqsic Chifti – We delve into AmCab style with its swoon-worthy taqsim section where a dancer seems to intoxicate the audience under her spell. The taqsim is  generally set to and led in with the Chiftitelli rhythm. This workshop will explore approaches to dancing through the taqsim, including to the Chiftitelli rhythm itself, and includes some floorwork. We explore approaches to this in terms of musicality, as this is often in an improvisational context.

Sharp Skills/Soft Skills – Ready to enter the bellydance workplace with both sets of skills? This workshop is a technique builder of sharp isolation technique and fluid connector technique. We then level-up by adding layering and sequencing movement patterns to both.

Short, Sweet & Sassy: Drum Solo – Learn a drum solo choreography to a tabla solo that will get the crowd going. Compact with tons of fun, style, and some challenging isolation patterns.

Shaabi à la Mahraganat – Dance your cares away with a fun, flirty, free-spirited shaabi choreography in the emergent Mahraganat style.

Mejance in Motion – A fixture of Oriental style that highlights all its facets is the beautiful and dynamic Mejance. We learn a choreography that’s joyful to dance and that will give the dancer some new moves and approaches to lyrical phrases.
